Today’s “Just Mercy” Chronicles…

I didn’t want to blog about this because I didn’t want to offer spoilers. I learned a while ago, my disdain for reading came from me not liking made up stories; I like facts. I also learned I either like to read the book and be done or see the movie and be done; I typically don’t watch movies of books I read because movies take away from the story.

“Just Mercy” started a little slow, but the content of the film and the facts, posted as the credits rolled, are reminders of where justice remains for poor people…specifically poor BLACK people. This movie was extremely close to the book and I felt the emotion of the characters.

It’s been an emotional week, the moon has a hand in that, but the art of this film pushes me to keep fighting, keep telling the truth, keep standing up for what’s right and to keep pushing against the “get over it” narrative.

So happy Bryan Stevenson is alive and actively participated in this story being told and Michael B. Jordan for delivering this project. They did Johnny D. well…can’t wait to see more of Ray Hinton sharing his story. Go see it, take your Black sons, learn who your DA is, who your Sheriff is and V.O.T.E!
