Today’s Black History Month Chronicles…

I’ve been invited to the International Civil Rights Center Museum Gala for the past few years and, each time, it’s been reinforced why I can’t turn a blind eye to injustice. Most of the time, my guest to the Gala is Pic 1, Denise James. Last year, her knee wouldn’t allow her to attend, but after having a replacement and the constant inquiries from a friend/coworker, she opted to attend Saturday. Everyone at the table enjoyed her company and everyone at the table was also advised if they want to see her again, they’ll have to pick her up. She looks like her Daddy but acts like her Momma…the version of her Momma post WSSU/Upward Bound Retirement where what came up came out. But had the nerve to tell a tablemate I’m not allowed to talk in meetings.

Pics 2 and 3 are per her request. I like to be in the moment, but I can’t because my mother is in my ear saying, “Get that picture.” And later asking, “Did you get it?” There was a lot of history in that building and the question of “who’s got next?” was discussed because these historians are aging. OAN: Danny Glover discussed some intense facts, yet will always be Mistah
