Today’s Work Chronicles…
Since this is my last weekend on the regular schedule, you can expect periodic chronicles today and tomorrow.
•Learned this week Michai is not only an introvert, but also does not like speaking in front of crowds (unlike either of his parents). He was, however, named a “wordsmith” as evidenced by 3 long text messages he sent me about a couple who imposed on his space at the last WSSU home game. Let’s just say, his English papers should be interesting. Shout out to Ms. Cumbo for that early speech therapy.
•My mother has been discussing how our boss doesn’t know how to be a boss, nor does she know how to lie (my mother DESPISES liars). I witnessed it this morning and gave her an opportunity to tell the truth and 🤦🏾♀️.
Her: *answers her phone without mentioning her name as she usually does. I’m assuming the caller asked for her by name*
She’s off today but I can send you to her voicemail (me watching from the switchboard as she sends the call back to herself)
Me: *Answers the phone where caller says someone called and gave boss’ extension but the person who answered the extension sent her to a voicemail*
Boss, (name person) is on the phone stating you called and told her to call your extension.
Her: Incorrectly pronounces name as if she is confused
Me: repeats name
Her: Ok, just send her to my voicemail (as if she doesn’t know I just heard her lie)
Me: Ma’am, the extension you’re asking for is the BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER AND I’M GOING TO SEND YOU TO HER VOICEMAIL
•A nurse is up here getting a luggage cart to move three people because the roof is leaking. Maintenance man calls and is disappointed when I tell him why he received the call
•White transportation lady has found yet another way to complain about black transportation man. Whiners don’t even honor Black History Month
