Today’s Reading Chronicles…

Session may have lasted 20 minutes and it was partly my fault. I selected, “Whistle for Willie”, as the book of choice and made the mistake of asking if they could whistle? The episode of Peppa Pig was reenacted since one could whistle and the other couldn’t. That resulted in an immeasurable amount of breath being blown on me. They were, however, able to retell the story, which means they listened.

Reviewing their high frequency words was a different story. When asked what the words were, they started naming numbers instead (as they had done in a previous session), and continued blowing their breath on me in attempts to whistle (it’s always flu season) so they were politely ushered back to their class.
Them: Noooo, we’ll read the words.
Me: The fact you knew what you were doing and wouldn’t stop is why you’re going back to class. It’s 3rd quarter, we don’t have time to waste.
TA: Looking at your face and the time, I’m sorry for whatever they did. Thank you and see you next week.
Me: 😐👋🏾
