Are so long because I want y’all to understand the importance of taking care of yourself because skilled nursing isn’t where you want to be.
I thought I was good when I avoided working on the full moon weekend…WRONG!
Resident spoke to me while clacking her dentures, after licking her fingers to hand me two pieces of paper (it’s flu season) and said, “Oh you’re red now. I think I like it better when it’s lighter on the top.” Me: Thank you (who asked you though 🤔)
I had a little convo with a man while he was making a payment and he came back asking for help with his phone. Asked me to take it out of selfie mode. Me: It already is
Him: Oh
Me: 🙄
Him: Smile 🤳🏾
Me: Uh, no 🏃🏾♀️
This is my mother’s weekend as supervisor on duty and she wore me out. We started well, but someone on the unit popped off and the virgo instantly turned P E T T Y. To those who don’t understand why I roll my eyes when you say, “Your mom is so sweet…” listen to the video. I have more footage but she was either being too petty or naming names. (If I turn up missing, know she has something to do with it)
When you hear me reference how my mother shouldn’t expect much because she knows who she’s dealing with, the note in the pic is a prime example. Instead of waiting for me to get off the phone, an employee wasted one of the sign in sheets to write a note, ONLY to wait for me to get off the phone and tell me what she wrote on the paper.
Staff has tried me today too, but I thought I’d give them a break since my mother had been on them and almost brought one to tears. Karma, however, sees all and will sometimes immediately go to work on your behalf. Was giving one of many tours when a resident needed assistance going to the bathroom and didn’t have her call bell. I pushed the bell but also told the (crybaby) nurse she needed help. CNA was picking up trays and went in two rooms before I reminded her about the lady’s urgent need. She put her hand up and continued walking in ANOTHER room. After finally getting to the lady’s room, I hear what sounds like a tray falling. After peaking around the corner, not only did the tray fall, but the lady’s head was sticking outside the door because she was on the floor too. (Did I mention I was giving a tour to a potential family?)
Last pic is how I looked at a little boy whose family was letting him go wild on the piano. (He stopped playing)
As I type, I’ve received two calls.
1. Do you have paperwork for newly admitted resident?
Me: I doubt it. Did you check the system because my mother looked at it before she left?
Them: No, I didn’t check
Me: Check ✌🏾
2. Will you help in the dining room because CNA has no babysitter and will have to leave?
Me: Silence while she continues to complain about the amount of “paperwork” (that again is electronic) and that CNA will come get me when she has to leave.
Also me: 🤔
1. If I don’t have a babysitter, I’m leaving immediately!
2. All these callouts may fool the white scheduler and the old secretary but you ain’t fooling me cause I KNOW YOU’RE GOING TO GHOE!
