Today’s High School Chronicles…

Mount Tabor offers a forum series and tonight’s session was about Mental Health. Great information was offered, most of which I already knew from previous discussions or learned about from experience. What was startling to learn is how young students have been found vaping (3rd Grade) and how the CBD edibles, particularly the gummies, are being found with young children. There was also an info sheet of Mental Health organizations who offer help to children and their parents (together or separately) for free or on sliding scales.

Mom always knows best. My mother has been advocating for a counselor for Michai to help him through adolescence because boys are different and these times are different. Because I didn’t see one on the panel (no shade to the organizers because the panelists’ knowledge was broad and of great value), I put an APB out for what I thought was an anomaly…a black male couselor who specializes in working with athletes, i.e. someone who looks like Michai and his friends and also speaks their language…between the panelists and the audience I left with 3 contacts and possibly more to be e-mailed.

Not enough Black parents were in the audience. Gone are the days where we ONLY rely on prayer and making sure our kids stay in church. Spirituality helps, but we have to add trained individuals to the village.

An oxymoron but, pray for me or send me some CBD (or both) because the amount of time I spend researching apps is more than I spent researching in Grad School.
