Today’s WSFCS Superintendent Listening Session Chronicles…
I thought I would be listening to Dr. Hairston discuss her plans for the district. Had I known she was going to be listening to the audience, I probably wouldn’t have gone because these events can be awkward.
Dr. Hairston can talk, but she was “talking good” and differently from her predecessor, Betsy DeV…I mean Bev Emory. She also knows how to control a crowd because an audience member tried her and her clap back was swift.
I get the sense many parents only know what’s going on in their schools resulting in, what I thought, were unrealistic questions.
Here are a few items I heard and HOW I heard them:
•High Schoolers need to return to going to school before elementary students
•Bus Driver’s fees will be paid as an incentive to obtain more drivers
•English classes will run on Cable 2 (YouTube) for parents to learn English
•A lot of discussion around AG and exceptional students
•Some discussion on bullying, mental health and the need for teachers to have support for disrespectful and disruptive students
•A lot of questions around inclusion (surprisingly from white people) and school choice resegregating schools
•To that point, a black man said (how I
heard it), he didn’t understand their
questions because they say they want
their schools to look different but their
neighborhoods aren’t integrated

OAN: My workout about took me out and I’m still single, yet this lady on My 600-lb Life has a whole husband. She told Dr. Now her orthopedist told her to not walk because her knees are bone on bone. Dr. Now said, “They gave you some bad information.”
