Today’s Work Chronicles…
Don’t include comedy, just a recap of my thoughts about the weekend.
The excitement I have for the East Forsyth High School Football team, who woke up as State 4A Champions with a perfect record, remains high. I am especially happy for the Childs‘ Family, as they have TWO sons on the team. I’m also proud of them because they remain witnesses to the Blessings God bestows when you are “faithful over a few things.”
The Healthcare Symposium/Jazz Brunch, hosted by WSSU yesterday included a powerful panel discussion, and it was nice to hear men discuss their health; particularly their MENTAL health. Members of the African-American community continue to suffer in silence and are sometimes ridiculed by members of the same community when they attempt to share their personal stories.
Grateful there was no school this week because I needed a break, but I am happy to get back in the swing of things for the sake of my schedule and Michai’s sleeping habits.
Speaking of school, I am saddened by the responses I’ve read in reference to the shift in the WSFCS School Board. I’m hardly shocked, because I witnessed the piss poor action to help Ashley Elementary, but definitely disappointed at how many put politics before the welfare of children (who can’t defend themselves) and teachers (who are paid very little compared to the resources they invest). Kudos to Malishai Woodbury for making history by staying the course…she didn’t faint and her season is here. There’s a lot of work to do and we owe it to the children of this county to help the board get it done!
